Chucky is back in the reboot no one wanted. Instead of a serial killer-possessed doll, he’s a robotic companion doll for kids without any safety protocols.
Aubrey Plaza plays the mother who brings home the defective doll to her son Andy. Mark Hamill is the voice of Chucky.
I liked the technology update and parts were OK, but it felt like it was something other than Chucky. I think because of the nostalgia and hanging on to the past, this movie suffered where it could have been much better.
There was one part where Chucky uses his Internet Of Things connected-ness to take over a bunch of other toys including a bear that was equal parts terrifying and comical.
Overall, it’s not a bad horror movie. There is enjoyment to be had, it’s just not same as the Chucky we all grew up with.
