Wilderness State Park

Wilderness is a huge state park at the northern most tip of the lower peninsula of Michigan. Official details here. There are no shortage of things to do here. From full hook up to rustic campsites, back country cabins to lake front camp sites. Miles and miles of trails to hike and a seemingly endless sandy beach on Lake Michigan.

If you are an RV camping family then Wilderness is a great stop for you. They have more than a dozen sites that have full hook up. Combine this with the well maintained and private nature of a state park and its everything you could want. But, you are going to need to be ready to reserve your site 6 months in advance to get one of the full hook up sites. But, even if you dont, there are plenty of sites that have electric hook up to set up in.

There can be an argument made that some of the lake shore sites are even worth not having full hook up.

There are miles and miles of beaches for all of your waterfront activities. Get a tan on the beach, go for a swim, do some fishing, or go out on a boat. Lake Michigan is one of the best lakes ever and Wilderness makes it very easy to get on it.

Whether you are staying in the park or just passing through on the North Country Trail the hiking in Wilderness State Park is incredible. It is very accessible if you are just looking for a short jaunt through the wood or, you can make a day of it and hike deep into the park.

If being in the wilderness is your thing, Wilderness State Park lives up to its name.
