NFL Weekly #19

Time for the playoffs! In the most recent Weekly, I got the Packers pick correct, but whiffed on Indianapolis. The Texans beat the Colts, which (coupled with a Jacksonville loss to Tennessee) means Houston gets in. We'll keep it simple this week by just making predictions for all six games. Let's go chronologically, which means starting with Cleveland and Houston.

This is it, the final week of the season! There are currently 12 eliminated teams, five in the NFC and seven in the AFC. There are also two divisions in each conference (the Easts and the Souths) that are still undecided. Let's decide who's in and who wins each division. We'll start in the National Conference.

Welcome back to the Weekly, let's talk NFC! Last week we went over the situation in the AFC, so now it's on to the other half of the league. As of last week, there were three NFC teams eliminated. The Giants joined the ranks of the disappointed after losing to the Eagles by eight, bringing the tally to four.

We're getting down to the nitty-gritty in the playoff races in each conference. With three games to go, only six teams have been eliminated from contention, three from each conference. That means that each conference has thirteen teams vying for seven spots. Let's have a glance at the AFC this week and the NFC in seven days.

Chaos reigns! It's pretty tough to figure out who's really good and who's not this year. There's no obvious front-runner because every team has had at least one bad stretch at one time or another. The latest teams to struggle unexpectedly are the Eagles, every team in the B tier other than the Browns, the Packers, and the Steelers.

Welcome back to the Weekly, let's take a quick tour around the elite teams in the league at (what used to be) the 3/4 mark. The marquee contest last week was the Eagles vs. the 49ers. Unfortunately, this was pretty anticlimactic. as San Francisco bounced back after a slow first quarter to completely dominate Philadelphia.

Football is back tonight with a Seattle vs. Dallas match-up that the Seahawks need to win to bolster their playoff hopes, probably more that Dallas does. The Cowboys are three games up on Green Bay to get into the playoffs, two up on Seattle for the 5th seed (best non-division winner), and are two (and currently the tie-breaker) behind the Eagles in the NFC East.

It's that time again! Actually, it's a little past the time, but with Thanksgiving and everything , I didn't get it in on the usual day. So we've got a little bit of overlap with the three Turkey Day games and the brand spankin' new Black Friday contest.

Ok, with that out of the way, let's talk week 9 results. We had far fewer surprises this weekend. The most notable scores were the Packers winning 20-3 against the Rams, the Chargers smoking the Jets 27-6, and maybe the Bengals slipping past the Bills 24-18.
