A new contender has entered the ring as the chicken sandwich wars rage on. This time, Burger King has their own hand-breaded chicken sandwich in regular or spicy varieties that they are calling the Ch’King Sandwich.
The promo pictures of the spicy version make it look super red, but in reality, it’s just a little darker than the regular. I always go with the spicy versions, because I like it when my scalp starts to perspire.
Where does it sit on the spectrum? It’s better than the McDonald’s or Church’s chicken sandwiches, but it still does not beat the Popeye’s chicken sandwich.
What I like is the crispness of the breading and the overall flavor profile. I found the spicy to not be spicy enough. It’s like spicy for lightweights. Most places make the sauce spicy, but this is actually spicy breading on the chicken fillet. The “special sauce” is just some sort of mayo concoction, which thankfully, they used sparingly. (We hates the mayo, precious!)
All-in-all, it is not bad. Will I ever have it again? I might give it another go someday.
