The Wild Card week had some great games and some of the games were real stinkers. I picked 5 of 6 of the games correctly last week. So, that pretty much means Im out of correct picks for the season. Regardless, we must proceed.
Bengals (10th) @ Titans (5th) – Titans
Im not surprised that the Bengals won in the wildcard round. The Raiders provided a entertaining game but it just wasnt enough. What will surprise me is if the Bengals can take out the Titans. Yes, the Titans have had a few bizzarro weeks this season with losses to the Jets and Texans. But the Bengals lost to the Jets too, so, thats just the way this regular season went. I think a well rested Titans team will welcome the Bengals to Music City and then completely shut them down.
49ers (8th) @ Packers (3rd) – 49ers
Jimmy G and the 49ers sure did play spoiler for the Cowboys. And Cowboys fans are probably still complaining about the refs but guess what, as a Lions fan, I have no sympathy for you. You ran a risky play (though I do agree with the play call) and then you didnt let the officials do their job. You have to hand the ball to the umpire. Period.
Are the Packers the best team in the league? Maybe. But probably not. (And not according to our rankings.) I want so badly for the 49ers to take them out. They met up in week 3 and the Packers barely won on a last second, 51 yard, field goal. I dont think the Packers have improved since week 3 but I know that the 49ers have.
Rams (4th) @ Buccaneers (1st) – Rams
I have no idea who is going to win this one. I think Brady has at least 3 more Super Bowl wins in him. (1 ring for each finger should be enough, right?) And I know its bad form to pick against any team he is on. Buuuuuuut, I think Im going to go with the Rams. If Donald and the Rams defense can put the same pressure on Brady that they put on Murry this week, it should be enough to at least slow them down. It should be close and ultimately, this game may come down to who has the ball last. We have seen both of the quarterbacks do amazing things with less than 2 minutes left in a game, several times.
Bills (7th) @ Chiefs (2nd) – Chiefs
I feel like we are going to see this playoff matchup several times over the next decade. These are 2 of the most fun teams to watch in the AFC. And I think this might come down to home field advantage. If the game were in Buffalo I might pick the Bills. Both teams destroyed their Wild Card round opponent. And I dont know if that means its going to be a 64-49 or a 9-7 game. But, its going to be the game of the week. And in the end, the Chiefs will move on.
