Well, 3 out of 4 aint bad. The Bills D shut down the Rams .If the Lions defense had shown up they could have won that game. The Cardinals are already having their midseason collapse. Tampa didnt look dominant but they sure didnt let Dallas do anything interesting either. Lets see what we have in store for week 2.
Chargers @ Chiefs
As a kid I was a huge Broncos fan. John Elway was my favorite quarterback. And I hated these two teams. Well, fast forward a quarter of a century and Denver makes a great move to get Russel Wilson. But, as it turns out, the coach decided to throw away the $242 million investment and send the kicker out to kick a 64 yard field goal on the road IN SEATLE. Thats 8, EIGHT, yards farther than the current record at Lumen Field. So, I now have no qualms about rooting for the Chiefs and Chargers.
This matchup should be a good one. Theyre division rivals so we get to see them play twice, perhaps three times if the playoffs line up correctly, this season. There are so many good teams in the AFC this season that I really dont know who ends up in the post season. I really dont know who wins this one either. They both are coming off of wins though the Chargers had the harder opponent. I think that technically the Chargers are the underdog, and the game is in Kansas City. Despite that, Im going to call an upset on this one and give the win to San Diego.
Commanders @ Lions
So, as of this posting, Carson Wentz is not injured as I predicted in my earlier post. But, the Commanders did not look good against the Jaguars. Yes, they won. But thats not saying much. Wentz had a QB rating of 46.2 with 2 interceptions. They gave up a late game lead and had to come back to win in the last 2 minutes. Im not convinced that Washington is legit yet.
The Lions on the other hand, were much better, giving up their lead in the first quarter and never looking back. And Goff had a way better 49.7 QBR with only 1 interception. But seriously, The Lions did the thing I hoped they would do. They ran the ball. And they ran it all over the field whenever they wanted. Unfortunately, Goff does not have any confidence down field so all those 4th quarter comebacks from the last decade with Stafford are becoming a distant memory. I still think that Detroit wins this one. Its going to be ugly. But, itll be a win.
