Lets just call last week “Bruno” because we are not going to talk about it. The Lions have week 6 off so they cant blow another one! Rather than picking individual games, shift gears. Now that the Power Rankings are starting to show some usable data lets talk about playoffs. Heres who I think the division winners will be.
AFC East – Buffalo Bills
The Patriots are garbage, the Jets have been lucky, and the Dolphins are going to continue to struggle with Tagovailoa out. Though, if they get him back soon enough they may have a chance. This leaves the Bills. But, I am not picking the Bills just because there isnt anyone else. I feel like Buffalo could take just about any division in the league and they are my early favorite for the AFCs Super Bowl representative.
AFC North – Baltimore Ravens
This division should be better than it currently is. But, nobody has really shown up. They dont have an S or A tier team and the only B tier team is the Ravens. Hell, theyre the only team with a winning record. It is early in the season and the orange teams from Ohio could get their shit together. (But not the Browns, really.) At this point it just feels like the Ravens need to stay healthy and find 10 wins and theyll take the division.
AFC South – Tennessee Titans
I feel like I say this every season but do we really have to send a team from each division to the playoffs? Why is this division so bad? The leader in the division is ranked 11th on our Power Rankings. Yes, their 2 losses are to the Bills and the Giants who are 4-1 but they have yet to win a game by more than 4 points. In fact, their point differential is -22. If I could vote for noone in the south, I would.
AFC West – Kansas City Chiefs
What a disappointment the AFC has been so far. The Chiefs and the Bills are the only ones that I have any real hope for at this point. I honestly thought we were going to see something out of Denver but boy oh boy have they sucked. I didnt expect much from the Raiders but they should at least have 2 wins, right? The Chargers could turn things around but that loss to Jacksonville is concerning. As it stands, we are looking at a Mahomes vs Allen rematch in the playoffs.
NFC East – Dallas Cowboys
Math says this is the best division in the league. And I believe math. The Commanders are garbage, but that was to be expected. Are the Giants legit? I think they might be. Their only loss is to a division rival and by only 1 score. And, they have wins against 2 division leaders right now. We have the Cowboys going to Philadelphia this week for their most important game of the season yet. I think Dallas could win but even if they dont, theyll have Prescott back soon afterwards and they start the easy part of their schedule.
NFC North – Minnesota Vikings
Same old Lions. The Bears cant quite put a good game together. Sure the Packers beat the Bucs but Fuck Aarroonn Rrooddggeerrss. I love what the Vikings are doing. Their only loss is to the undefeated Eagles. And, they already have 3 division wins. Which, are basically golden tickets to the playoffs. Yeah, their point differential isnt the best but theyre getting the wins which is what matters.
NFC South – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Im kinda over the whole Tom Brady thing. Just go home, make up with your wife, and stop hogging all the attention. The Falcons cant catch a break and the Panthers are, well, their the worst team in the league. I really want the Saints to show up but they’re giving up way too many points. Not like Lions style but its not good. In the end, you dont pick against Tom Brady when it comes to the playoffs.
NFC West – San Francisco 49ers
Ive said it before and Ill say it again, Jimmy G is a game winner. The 49ers are 2-0 in the division. They are the only team with a positive point differential in the West. Sure they lost to the Bears but that wasnt actually football. (And no Garoppolo.) I dont know what happened with Denver but every game they have played this season has been in the Bizarro World. The Seahawks and Cardinals dont have a chance. The Rams will probably make the playoffs but I think they are going to settle for a wildcard spot.
