Last week I did a boring post where I just picked each game and didnt talk about it at all. Next week I will be doing my early season picks for division winners. Those posts happen every year and several times a season. This time around I wanted to do something a little different. I want to take a look at where I think the best team in the league, the San Francisco 49ers, will be at the end of the season.
Coming into Week 6 the 49ers are 5-0. Their point differential is off the charts and they just destroyed a Cowboys team that is supposed to be really good. (More on the Cowboys another day.) With 12 games left I honestly think they could go 15-2. Maybe even 17-0? All of this of course is under the assumption that everyone stays healthy and nothing weird happens.
San Francisco has four games against C and D Tier teams. The Vikings are being revealed as the frauds they were last season. They will end up the kings of the bad teams. The Bengals might be able to get their shit together but its not looking good at this point. The Cardinals, while division rivals are going to be playing for draft picks come week 15 and will not pose a problem. Ron Rivera will be fired by the time the 49ers head to Washington to play the Commanders and they too will be in shambles. These games should be four easy wins.
They have two games against B Tier teams. The Browns are a bad team that has looked good at times. I feel like they will continue to Brown it up and honestly dont stand a chance against the 49ers. The Rams might be able to pull off an upset on the road week 18. Especially if the 49ers have already locked up the #1 seed.
Now were getting into the good stuff. With five games against A Tier teams we are almost certain to see a couple of losses. I think one of them comes at the hands of the Jaguars. This will be their first loss and will end their eight game winning streak. The Buccaneers should be a return to form and they will put the hurt on Baker Mayfield. The Seahawks. Im not sure what to think of the Seahawks just yet. Division games are always tough to call. I feel like Seattle will be fighting for a wildcard spot and should take one of the two matchups left. Theyll win the game in Seattle. 49ers win in SF. The Ravens are going to continue to struggle this season. So many injuries. 49ers shouldnt have much trouble when they come to town.
The best opponent that the 49ers have this season is the Eagles. And they will probably be the team they are competing against for first in the NFC. The Eagles are undefeated right now, just like the 49ers but they also havent played any really good teams. (Maybe the Bucs.) Not only that but they havent dominated anyone like the 49ers have. The only one score game the 49ers have had was when they went to LA to play their division rival the Rams. Every other game was a 18-32 point win. And in the 32 point win they took their starters out in the 4th quarter. Its going to be close but I think the 49ers win this, and first place in the NFC.
So there you have it. A loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Seattle Seahawks puts the 49ers at 15-2. Yeah, they might lose to the Ravens, Eagles, or even the Rams but they wont lose to all 5 teams. Im still not ruling out 17-0.
