Last week, rather than picking individual games, I picked who I thought was going to win each division at the end of the season. Time will be the ultimate judge but my predictions held up pretty well as Sundays games were played. Now back to picking a couple of individual games.
Lions @ Cowboys
In my preseason Lions predictions I had the Detroit coming out of the Week 6 Bye at 3-2. Well, its no surprise that they are actually 1-4. A great win over the Commanders, 3 heartbreakers, and they wet the bed in New England.
This week they have the Cowboys and start what Im calling the hard third of the season. I dont think they get another win until after Thanksgiving. Maybe they beat the Bears, I dont know. But its going to be a rough 6 weeks. Prescott should be back this week. Though, I dont think the Cowboys even need him to win this one. The Lions might put up some points and hopefully the week off will mean that they have enough healthy players back that they dont need to start practice squad guys again.
Chiefs @ 49ers
As a kid I couldnt tell these teams apart. Perhaps it was the very similar color palette of their uniforms. Maybe it was because Joe Montana played for both teams. Might have been because both teams dominated my Denver Broncos for so many years. But, its probably just because Im dumb.
As an adult I have managed to sort through those similarities, despite still being dumb, and can tell you that one of these teams is a good team lead by an amazing quarterback and the other is a good team lead by a beautiful quarterback. And while I think beauty is something that we should celebrate, its not going to be enough to win on Sunday. This game is probably going to be closer than most people think. OK, I just looked it up and it looks like the Chiefs are only a 1.5 point favorite so Im wrong, people do think its going to be close. That doesnt change my pick though. Chiefs for the win and first place in the in the AFC West. And for a bonus pick the Seahawks will upset the Chargers and take first in the NFC West.
