One week left in the regular season! Will the playoffs represent the best teams in the league? Tier lists made at tiermaker.com
Nothing changed here. Baltimore is still the best team in the league, by a long shot, and San Francisco is 2nd best and nobody is even remotely in their league.
Im not going to get too deep into the Lions/Cowboys referee debacle here. Ive seen Detroit get screwed by the refs for decades. Its just part of being a Lions fan. This was something else though. It was either the most inept officiating I have ever seen or corruption. I dont know how it could be anything else. And that team of officials should be fined and or fired. Removing them from the post season is not enough. And now Ive already gone farther down this path than I wanted to. So, according to the standings and scores, this is how the A tier shakes out.
The Browns and Cowboys each moved up three to 3rd and 4th. Philadelphia dropped three to 6th in a complete meltdown against the then F tier Cardinals.
A little bit of shuffling around here in B tier. Most notably the Steelers moved up three spots to 12th after a win over the Seahawks. This win is enough to keep Mike Tomlins streak of winnings seasons rolling and keeps their playoffs hopes alive for one more week. Though, they can not win the AFC North anymore. The Bucs did not look good against the Saints and dropped four spots to 17th and will have to wait another week before they can clinch the top spot in the NFC South.
Bears moved up to C tier and 23rd place and have been looking competitive since their mid season low 30th place. The Packers, Broncos, and Saints all looked good this week as they passed the Vikings and Raiders to the top of C tier. The Packers, #18 are the worst team that would make the playoffs if the season ended today.
The Jets and Falcons drop to D tier. But dont worry, the Falcons could still make the playoffs. Its a long shot. But there is still time for the sub 500 team. In the true spirit of the 2023 season the Cardinals had a huge upset win over the Eagles which moved them up three spots and into D tier. Everyone else lost and none of that was surprising.
The only thing left for Washington and Carolina this season is to play spoiler. Ill be rooting for the Commanders on Sunday as the host Americas team and their most valuable players, the refs.
