The year was 1975. I was not alive. A young dude named Brian Eno released his third album called Another Green World, a collection of art rock, minimalism that is both timeless and highly accessible.

Many of the tracks are instrumentals delving into ambient and electronic sensibilities. One of my favorite tracks, “Sombre Reptiles,” is delightfully layered and warm.

There are also notable guest appearances from drummer Phil Collins, who adds his signature rhythm, and guitar genius Robert Fripp, who has the versatility to add subtle texture as well as intricate solos.

I first heard the album in the early 1990s and it still resonates with me as much today as it did back then. The sound transcends the time period and obliterates the idea of what rock music is supposed to be. You can have artsy fartsy stuff and it still sounds good. Damn good.
