Back in the 1900s, long before Al Gore invented the internet and Napster tore down the music industry, Tipper Gore was a total bitch.
The vast majority of the music I consume is on a streaming service. Since the FCC has no jurisdiction over these platforms, the songs can be played the way they were recorded and intended to be listened to, with all the swears. Long gone are the days when you would get crappy edits that would beep out words unfit for young ears.
So where does this leave the children of the new millennium? How will they learn right from wrong? I guess its going to be up to their parents. God forbid we let parents decide whats acceptable for their children to listen too. And if they do hear those naughty words, I feel that parents can do what it takes to help them understand what they mean. Why the artist chose to use that language. And when it is appropriate and inappropriate for the child to use explicit language.
When the next Tipper Gore comes along and tries to regulate streaming services, my response is this. Shut that cunts mouth, or Ill come over there and fuck-start her head.
