We are about 64 days from the start of the NFL season. Lets see how this is going to play out for the Lions. At least how its going to play out from the perspective of an eternally hopeful fan.

Eagles @ Lions
The Eagles ended the season on a little bit of a run last year. And by that I mean they stumbled into the playoffs by winning 9 games against teams that didnt make the playoffs and then promptly got destroyed by the Bucs in the Wildcard week. That said, they will still be the favorites for this week 1 matchup. However, I think Campbell is going to have this Lions team fired up coming off the off season and the Lions are going to have their first +500 record since they were 2-1-1 in 2019. 1-0

Commanders @ Lions
Im sure Commanders (the new name is starting to grow on me) fans are saying the same thing but this is one that we (yes, Im inserting myself as part of the team) can win. Sure they have Wentz but odds are he will be injured by this point in the season. 2-0

Lions @ Vikings
Week 3 brings the first division game and first road game. It will also bring the the first loss of the season for the Lions. It will probably be close but Detroit will fall short. 2-1

Seahawks @ Lions
The Seahawks struggled last season with Russel Wilson as their quarterback. This year Wilson is playing in Denver and things are looking even worse for the Seahawks. Im going to go with the home team and give Detroit their 3rd win. 3-1

Lions @ Patriots
Man, the Pats completely fell apart at the end of the season last year. Sure they made the playoffs but thats just because nobody else in the AFC wanted that last spot. You have to think Belichick is going to have things sorted out by week 5, right? Especially with the Lions coming to town. This will be loss #2 of Detroit. 3-2

Bye Week
So, here we are, week 6 off with a winning record. It may be optimistic but I dont think its too far fetched. Honestly, it speaks more to the easy early schedule the Lions have rather than their talent level at this point. Also, Im hoping the Detroit fans show up. And by that I dont just mean buy tickets to the game, quietly drink too much beer and then leaving half way through the 3rd quarter. They need to make Ford Field a place other teams dread playing in.
