Happy Hunting (2017)

On his way to Mexico to see the child he didn’t know he had, an alcoholic mess of a human stumbles into a small town’s yearly tradition of hunting humans.

Warren is played by Martin Dingle Wall, a poor man’s Kurt Russell/Bill Paxton, who struggles with his alcohol demons throughout the movie. His performance was not bad, and reminded me a bit of Snake Plisskin in Escape from New York or Roddy Piper’s John Nada character in They Live.

For being low budget, it was executed a bit better than I would have expected. Some of the acting talent could have been better, but the atmosphere, camera work, and sound were all well done.

It was an enjoyable experience, but I couldn’t help but wonder how much better it would have been if John Carpenter had directed it.
