John Wick (2014)

They stole his car and killed his dog. This means war.

Keanu Reeves stars as the title character, John Wick, a retired hitman-for-hire who just wants to live his life in peace after losing his wife to a terminal illness.

After some Russian thugs break into his house and beat him up, we wakes up to find his fancy Mustang stolen and his little beagle puppy murdered. The beagle was the last gift his wife gave to him, so you can imagine his rage. (I know I can.)

The rest of the movie is a total revenge masterpiece of carnage. John Wick is a stone cold killer, but he faces a bombardment of attackers when the Russian mobster guy takes out a contract on John Wick to try to save his puppy-killing son.

As the movie progresses, John shifts his focus from the idiot mobster kid to the dad, Viggo. One thing is for certain, you don’t mess with the Wick.

This movie reminded me a lot of old school action movies starring Schwarzenegger or Stallone. You know, before they got old and fat and started doing The Expendables.

For what it is, it’s well executed and a fun ride. If you want some mindless killing, this one is for you.
