John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019)

He’s back and marked for death. Due to the events of the second chapter, Johnny got himself into serious trouble.

When he killed a prominent bigwig on neutral ground, he broke the rules and now he has to pay WITH HIS LIFE.

The movie opens with John Wick frantically trying to prepare for his imminent excommunicado status. I guess that means he’s out of the umbrella of the assassin syndicate and essentially fair game.

Immediately, a $14 million bounty is placed on his head, so you can imagine everyone and their gun-toting grandmother is after him. This leads to fight after fight after fight.

In his desperation, John seeks out refuge with some Belarusian mobsters because that’s where he’s from originally. They oblige reluctantly, even though they could literally tell him to take a hike. I guess he begged convincingly enough.

Fight fight. More fighting.

Then he tries to meet with the top dog out in the middle of the desert to beg for forgiveness and make amends. He pledges fealty (the most used word in the movie). Then performs a power play, but still gets his ass beat.

Fight fight. Fighty McFight.

I liked this one better than the second one, even though it had some story problems. Ultimately, it felt much more streamlined and even though it was 2 hours and 10 minutes long, it moved at a decent clip.

I did not like the knives going into heads and eyeballs. It was a little extreme for no good reason. On top of that, John Wick, the ultimate badass, is going around begging everyone to spare him and let him live. Seems less like a badass when you are whining about people needing to help you every 5 minutes.
