NFL Picks – Divisional Playoffs

It occurred to me as we sat down to watch the Browns/Texans game on Saturday that I had not posted my picks. But, I did remember to fill out my ESPN bracket. As you can see, of the six games I got four correct. Not too bad, right.

So where does that leave us for the upcoming week. With four games left and possibly the eight best teams in the league at this point, it should be a good week of football!

Texans @ Ravens: Ravens
The Texans have had an incredible run this season. It is not often you see a rookie quarterback with a first year head coach have the amount of success that Houston has had. The AFC South has gotten a whole lot more interesting. But I think this is where their journey ends. The Ravens are firing on all cylinders. They beat the Texans opening week. (Yes, I know that was a very different team than the one we are watching in the postseason.) In fact, they have already beaten almost half of the teams that made the post season. Thats how hard their schedule was. And thats how good they are. You throw in the fact that the game is in Baltimore and I just dont think the Texans have a chance. It could be close but the Purple Murder will be playing in the championship game.

Packers @ 49ers: Packers
This is my upset pick of the week. And it might be a little bit of a stretch, and is definitely influence by the fact that I would rather see Detroit host the Packers in the championship round then have the Lions go to San Francisco. But, anything can happen in the post season, right? The Packers also had a tough schedule this year. Of the six playoff teams they have played, they have beaten four. Most notably they went into Dallas and completely destroyed the Cowboys. They are going to have to overcome whatever curse the 49ers hold over them to win but I think its possible.

Buccaneers @ Lions: Lions
Of course Im picking the Lions! I am all in! I dont know if they can handle the Ravens if it comes to it but I just feel like this is a team destined for something special. (That should be enough to curse them, right?) The Bucs looked great as the took down the Eagles. And they are certainly the favorite to win their division until someone else figures out how to get a winning season. Regardless of the outcome, it has be a successful season for both of these teams. A win at this point is pure gravy.

Chiefs @ Bills: Bills
Everyone is talking about how the Chiefs are struggling this season. The poor Chiefs only went 11-6 this season, what is going on with them? Well guess what, only one AFC team did better. And only four teams in the entire league did better. So to say that a team that was tied for 5th in the entire league isnt going well this season is bull shit. That said, of course Im picking the Bills! They are on fire right now. They had a hard time mid season, no doubt, but its not mid season anymore and they are on a six game winning streak. Dont get me wrong, the Chiefs arent going to go out like the Eagles and Cowboys did. They are going to put up a fight and I wont be surprised if we get another overtime coin flip determining the winner.
