I am not understanding the audience’s love for this one. It’s a basic plot about filming a porno in backwoods Texas that turns deadly at the hands of an elderly couple? It would have to be Texas, wouldn’t it?

It just took forever to go anywhere and it’s only 106 minutes long. When the blood eventually does start to flow in the second act, it’s got some good kills and gruesome stuff, but I had completely checked out by that time. It felt so lopsided and ended kind of abruptly after an abysmal climax that wouldn’t ever make it into a skin flick.

Mia Goth is the shining star playing both the porn actress and the old lady, Pearl. I am not sure if that was meant as a sort of time-shifty duality of a character both at the beginning and end of their life. That could have been interesting if it had been explored more, but I didn’t see much in the way of character depth or growth.
