I knew absolutely nothing about this movie going into it other than it was on Netflix. Sometimes it is good to go into a story with a blank slate, because then you can be a little more forgiving if things go off the rails.
It’s mostly in Italian about a group of people car pooling in an RV who get into an accident and wake up in the RV out in the middle of nowhere. They come to find out that they are there to be served as human sacrifices for some cult.
I think I should probably not like this movie, but something about it pushes me in the opposite direction. There are so many aspects of the plot that have been done time and time again. Examples include: road trip gone wrong, being stranded/isolation, blood lusty cult rituals, the final girl, plot twist that changes everything, cabin in the woods, etc.
Appropriate to the story, it’s kind of a masterclass in perfecting the horror plot devices mentioned above. It was well crafted and well executed, but not without some faults. I didn’t like how predictable a certain character was or how it was obvious a plot twist was on the way. Also, the main girl, Elisa, is kind of a lightweight for the first two acts, then turns into this badass in the third act. Be consistent with your characters or at least plant the seeds of badassery early.
