It’s a psychological horror film about a psychiatric doctor who witnesses a patient commit suicide and seemingly begins to lose her mind. She believes she’s cursed and that a dark entity is stalking her with murderous intentions. It’s fairly reminiscent of It Follows, but stays unique enough to keep the viewer invested.

Amongst the tension building and jump scares, the main character of Rose is continuously dealing with the suicide death of her mother that she witnessed when she was 10 years old. In fact, her background makes you wonder if it’s not all in her head.

As Rose’s world starts to close in and her family and friends abandon her, she takes it upon herself to solve the mystery and face her past before it consumes her.

Whatever this movie was doing, it was quite effective. I bit my fingernails. I was on the edge of my seat. I was looking away. I was sweating. I was yelling at the screen. I wanted it to be over. I kept finding reasons to leave the room temporarily. I had to check behind the shower curtain when I went into the bathroom.

It’s far from perfect and it’s loaded with way too many jump scares, which I don’t usually care for, but it’s rare that a horror film puts me in such an uneasy state.
