The third movie in The Strangers series attempts to breathe new life into the franchise by throwing the premise into an Easy Bake oven and hoping for an ooey gooey rehash that you can sink your teeth into. Did somebody say grilled cheese?

A young couple’s car breaks down while they are traveling through a remote part of Oregon. The spooks and the kooks come out as they are forced to spend the night at a cabin while waiting for their car to be fixed.

As with the other two movies, the three bad people in masks lurk and stalk while playing little games like knocking on the door or entering the cabin without the people knowing. In typical fashion, things escalate until the couple are fighting for their lives to survive.

It’s well constructed and yields the thrills and chills that any viewer would expect, but there isn’t much new to get excited about. About the only thing that was new was the cliffhanger at the end meant to lead into Chapter 2 of this new trilogy. Eye roll.
