It’s got Willem Dafoe! Need I say more? Well, yeah, because the word count isn’t high enough yet.
We have another rebake of the 1922 silent film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, which was loosely based on Bram Stoker’s Dracula. This movie updates all previous remakes with improved visuals and an all-star cast including Dafoe, Bill Skarsgard as Count Orlok, Lily-Rose Depp, and Nicolas Hoult.
Though a bit on the long side, the film was very well done with amazing imagery that looked more like ancient art than movie scenes. It managed to seem both new and old at the same time, while also maintaining a beautiful grotesquery throughout. The sound was masterfully crafted to give an eerie quality, especially with the voice of Orlok that was so deep, it sounded like an earthquake rumble every time he talked.
It was a bit sad at the end with the bittersweet sacrifice to conquer evil. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
