Andy and his blind sister, Piper, are placed in a home with Laura after their dad dies unexpectedly. Laura is already caring for a mute boy named Ollie, and both of them are more than a tad quirky. Maybe “nucking futs” is more appropriate.

It is revealed that Laura’s blind daughter drowned in their swimming pool, and Piper fills the void for Laura. Of course, Andy gets in the way of Laura having her perfect relationship with her new daughter. Oh, but there is way more that I won’t reveal here.

I liked how it took its time to reveal what was actually going on and that tension built up with all the strange things that Laura and Ollie were doing. Plenty of WTF moments that kept it interesting until the very end.

There were a lot of really cringe-inducing gore moments of body damage that just makes you squirm from the perceived pain. I also felt myself really caring about the characters. Even the “bad” characters could garner some sympathy due to their situations.
