Just when you thought it was safe to rob a blind man…
Three punk thieves in Detroit receive a tip about a blind veteran (Stephen Lang) with a load of cash in a rundown neighborhood. Little do they know the man is far from innocent. The movie starts as a heist with bumbling idiots and quickly turns to shit getting real ugly.
The fast pace, interesting twists, and unique premise kept me interested until the very end. I liked how none of the characters are defined as good. They are all despicable in their own ways, and yet you still feel bad for all of them at various times.
Stephen Lang plays the blind Norman Nordstrom character and seemed like he was doing a Christopher Walken impression during the speaking parts. His performance was definitely the highlight with him being calm, calculated, and often like the spider waiting to capture its prey.
There were a couple of plot holes and inconsistencies. These days, if the movie can scare me, excite me, or keep me invested to the end, I count that as a win. This one is a winner.
