It’s another rebake of a barely passable horror film franchise. The first film that started it all in 1997 was marginally OK in the sense that it had a great cast, serviceable premise, and managed to clean up the box office as a teen horror Scream clone. It then spawned some shit sequels and a TV series. There’s just not enough of a story there to keep it going this long.

This movie tries to do it all over again as a distant sequel that includes surviving cast members Freddie Prinz Jr and Jennifer Love Hewitt, and a couple cameos thrown in as well. Then there is the new cast of dumb teens who kill a person at the beginning to set everything in motion.

Even with the twists, it was hard to care about what was going on or any of the characters. The whole thing seemed so forced and unnecessary. And why couldn’t they bring Ryan Phillippe back if they are going to be bringing people back?

On the plus side, there was massive gore.
