NFL Power Rankings – Week 13

Boy oh boy, we are getting some really defined tiers right now. And a few teams that seem to be beyond the traditional rankings. Lets see how this week looks.

Earlier in the season we had the 49ers up in S+ tier and then they lost 3 in a row. Well the Eagles are 10-1 and also on a 5 game winning streak. They just keep beating good teams. There was a lot of buzz a few weeks ago when Philly was looking at the hardest remaining schedule in the league. Well, they keep winning. And yes, they still have San Francisco, Dallas, and a now mediocre Seattle but it will not surprise me if they win out. S+ tier is back until they lose.

The Ravens hold steady at #2 and are probably looking up at that S+ tier wondering if they can reach it. I dont know that the math is there but if they win out, including wins against Jacksonville, San Francisco, Miami, and Pittsburg, its possible. But honestly, unlikely. The Chiefs and 49ers keep their 3rd and 4th place rankings while the Jaguars move up two spots to 5th. All three move up to S tier with big divisional wins.

Detroit and Cleveland drop three spots but hold on to A tier, for now. The Cowboys and Dolphins both move up two spots to 6th and 7th. They both had divisional wins too but their effort was not nearly as impressive as the other. Pittsburg stays at #10 but makes the jump back up to A tier with a win over the Burrowless Bengals.

There is a HUGE gap in the numbers between A and B tier. (If anyone is interested in the actual numbers that are used to rank the teams let me know in the comments.) I think everyone who was B tier other than the Steelers lost this week. Then, the Broncos and Colts won so they moved up to #13 and #14 and up to B tier. In fact, they are very close to being on top of B tier. (Gotta work on those point differentials guys!)

The Vikings and Bengals fall to C tier at 16th and 18th while the Rams and Packers move up three spots to #17 and #19. The Rams are the only team here that was in C tier last week.

Nobody in D tier moved very many ranks but the Chargers, Bucs, and Saints fell from C tier last week. Falcons did manage to move up two spots to 23rd. And if you were wondering, yes, the entire NFC South is in D tier or lower.

These four, I just dont know. They are so far behind the rest of the league. I appreciate the Bears showing everyone that the Vikings are who we thought they were. But its going to take more than that to get out of F tier.

Yeah, its time. F tier may be way behind the rest of the league but the Cardinals and Panthers are way behind them. Down at 31st and 32nd is one thing. Weve never done an F- tier (though the ’17 Browns would have probably been down there) but both of these teams are doing worse than the Texans at this point in the season last year. And that was really bad.
