Papa John’s has a new Parmesan Crusted Papadia. I’ve never tried the Papadias, and in fact, I don’t really know what it is supposed to be. I always assumed it was like a calzone or flatbread pizza sandwich. Given the name, it seems like it may be Papa John’s version of a quesadilla.
Like all things from Papa John’s, it’s great if you are starving and sub-par if you are not. So, we generally order from them when all other options have been exhausted.
Since they were hyping up this new Papadia and giving “exclusive early access” to rewards members (literally everyone), I decided to give it a shot.
First impression was that it looked visually appealing. The toasted parmesan outer shell appeared to be roughly what was in the promo pictures, although not quite as golden and shiny.
It’s more or less a pizza quesadilla where the pizza dough acts as the tortilla. The filling is whatever you want. They have pre-selecting ones like BBQ chicken or Philly cheese steak, but I chose to choose my items. I went with regular marinara sauce, pepperoni, green peppers, and mushrooms.
For $7, it was pretty filling, but it wasn’t exactly exploding with flavor. Dipping in the garlic cup made it 10x better. The parmesan crust added some extra crisp to the outside. My biggest complaint is that it was dripping grease. Do I feel like I need to eat this again? No.
