This is the most absurd premise and I love it. Some girls at a sorority house decide to adopt a homicidal sloth as their mascot. Hilarity ensues. Slowly.
The movie fully understands how ridiculous it is, and then leans into it a bit more. To the point where they have the sloth doing human things like browsing social media on a laptop. Even some of the sloth’s looks and how it turns to the camera are both eerie and laugh-inducing.
Where it doesn’t do so well was the human characters that are forgettable and often irritating. This movie could have easily been a 4-taco film if they had just made some likeable and fun characters that are witty and clever. Even better would have been to try to break sorority girl stereotypes by making some characters that the viewer wants to survive and cares about enough to keep watching.
The sloth was badass, though.
