Playing video games can be deadly!
A beta tester plays an unreleased video game and ends up dying mysteriously in the same way his character died in the video game. It’s up to his friend, Hutch, to play the game and find out the truth of what happened. Hutch recruits some of his gamer buddies to assist (including Malcolm in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz).
People who die in the game, die in the same way in real life, and the police start to suspect Hutch given how involved he is with each of the victims. The group of gamers must discover the truth around the video game’s background story in order to find a solution to survive.
In some ways, the movie feels like a teen horror like Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer, but without the quality writing of Kevin Williamson. Still, it was at least an enjoyable film trying to do something a little different even with all the plot holes.
