A young couple (Alison Brie and Dave Franco) moves into a house in a remote small town. While on a hike in the woods, they fall into a hole that opens up to what looks like a cave with a lot of weird shit in it. They drink some water from a small pool and after getting out of the cave the next morning, weird supernatural stuff starts happening involving their body parts fusing together.

I found the movie to be intriguing in that it explains enough of the plot, but leaves a bit left for your imagination. Is it supernatural or extra terrestrial? Is it viral or bacterial? You don’t really need to know the details, but it makes for a more interesting viewing experience.

This movie was like Cronenberg and Lovecraft baked a cake and put some The Thing sprinkles on top. It had a good pace, some acceptable horror moments, a little peppering of comedy, and an appropriate ending.
