It’s a clever idea with a unique technology twist where the whole film is told through the perspective of a computer screen using mostly Skype, Facebook, and YouTube. It’s like Blair Witch meets Scream with a ghost in the machine.
While I was sort of entertained in a car accident-watching kind of way, I found so many things to dislike. The characters are awful people that I wanted to die. The technology was mostly used accurately, but already massively outdated after just 8 years. Then there was the primary question of what is the villain? Is it human or supernatural? I’m not sure I even know.
The subject matter involves cyber bullies, suicides, and shitty people doing shitty things. Hmm, that sounds like stuff I don’t want to spend 82 minutes with.
Bottom line: if things start going south online, just turn off the damn computer.
