This is the fourth movie in this series of anthologies. It starts with a SWAT team doing a drug bust in 1994 and finding horrific stuff in a warehouse. As they come across various TVs, the narrative shifts to what is playing on the TV and each one has its own frightening short story. There is one about a rat man living in the sewers, a dead guy’s wake at a mortuary, a mad scientist trying to fuse humans with technology, and an extremist militia group intent on using explosive vampire blood in a terrorist attack.

I could care less about the SWAT story that was meant to tie everything together and the mad scientist one was kind of boring, but the other three were enjoyable in their own ways. There was effective building of suspense and they often kept the viewer not sure about which direction the scares would go. In some cases, there were cultist elements that evoked reality fear more so than the supernatural stuff.

A lot of times with anthologies, you get a good story mixed in with a couple bad ones. This movie’s balance is shifted more toward the good side, but it fails at cohesion amongst the differing tales. Anthologies can be fun, even when they are adequately executed from start to finish and this one is about as good as you might expect.
