Final Destination Bloodlines (2025)

This is one of those surprising entries in a franchise that more or less went stale from overuse of the formula. You know the one: the main character has a premonition about dying in some horrific way, cheats impending death, then must spend the rest of the film trying not to die in elaborate Rube Goldberg-inspired freak accidents. Well, that formula is still here, but with a little twist involving the descendants of the people who cheated death.

Without taking itself too seriously, it managed to deliver on the original premise without getting bogged down in the idiotic minutiae that the other films often dwelled on. You can try to survive, but death is coming for you and it will be bloody disgusting when you shit your pants.

Tony Todd came back for his last role reprisal before passing away. Unfortunately, the rest of the cast didn’t have much in the way of presence, which works out since they are all basically fodder anyway.

Whether you like the Final Destination franchise or not, this movie keeps up the horror and intrigue. It’s worth the ride and, for me, ranks fairly high in the series in terms of quality and enjoyment.
